DAY 1 – ARRIVE PERTH
After making your own way to Perth, settle in to your accommodation.

DAY 2 – PERTH TO MARGARET RIVER
Your journey starts with a picturesque drive south to the fabulous Margaret River region enjoying several stops along the way.

In Mandurah, a coffee break by the foreshore is followed by a visit to the Featured Wood Gallery and Museum in Bunbury. At Busselton, walk off your delicious lunch with a stroll along the longest timber jetty in the southern hemisphere.

After free time to browse the shops and galleries in the Margaret River township, it’s time to head to your accommodation for the night.

DAY 3 – MARGARET RIVER
Today is a sensory overload of fine food, wine, culture and scenery as you indulge in regional specialties including craft beer, coffee, cheeses, olive oil and chocolate with various esteemed local producers. (B, L)

DAY 4 – MARGARET RIVER TO PERTH
Today, you’ll head to Redgate Beach to hear stories of the shipwrecks that lie offshore, then head underground to explore the spectacular Mammoth Cave. Next stop, majestic Boranup Forest dominated by 60-metre tall karri trees, and a tour of the tallest lighthouse on mainland Australia, Cape Leeuwin, before stopping for lunch in Augusta.

After lunch in Albany, it’s time to head back to your Perth accommodation.

DAY 5 – LEISURE DAY
Today is yours to explore cosmopolitan Perth at your leisure. Take a walk to the new Elizabeth Quay, cruise the Swan River, stroll Kings Park, see the quokkas of Rottnest Island with Rottnest Express, or simply relax in the comfort of your accommodation. (B)

DAY 6 – BOARD THE INDIAN PACIFIC IN PERTH
This morning you will join the Indian Pacific, departing Perth, before heading east through the delightful Avon Valley. Take time out to enjoy this iconic train and relax in the Outback Explorer Lounge in anticipation of your late-night arrival into the Golden Outback region.

DAY 7 – INDIAN PACIFIC, NULLARBOR PLAIN
Wake to a spectacular Nullarbor sunrise. Relax throughout the morning taking in the outback vistas before a regionally inspired menu of modern Australian cuisine and fine wines awaits you for lunch.

Today, you’ll visit the extraordinary and slightly eerie ghost town of Cook, home to a thriving population of four. (B, L, D)

DAY 8 – INDIAN PACIFIC, ADELAIDE AND BROKEN HILL
As the landscape changes again and rich ochre sands make way for forests and farmlands, you will arrive into Adelaide. After a rewarding Off Train Excursion in the South Australian capital, return to the Indian Pacific to continue your journey toward Sydney.

Your next stop is Broken Hill where you’ll again have a choice of excursions that showcase the rich mining, artistic and cinematic legacy of this frontier outback town. (B, L, D)

DAY 9 – INDIAN PACIFIC, BLUE MOUNTAINS AND SYDNEY
Wake this morning to take in the full spectacle of the Blue Mountains on Sydney’s doorstep.

After your arrival into Katoomba, select from numerous mountain experiences before completing your epic transcontinental crossing at Sydney’s Central Station. (B, L)

Each of our three dining carriages has its own ambience and personality. The Queen Adelaide restaurant evokes the golden era of rail with an art deco atmosphere, the Outback Explorer Lounges offer camaraderie in a relaxed social setting, while the Platinum Club impresses with its quartzite tabletops, timber flooring and brass fittings for our Platinum Service guests.

Queen Adelaide Restaurant

Step out of your spacious cabin and into the exclusive, classically styled Queen Adelaide Restaurant where an all-inclusive menu is prepared by on-board chefs using fresh local fare. Our seasonal menu features mouth-watering dishes such as saltwater barramundi and grilled kangaroo fillet. Fares include hearty breakfasts, two-course lunches and three-course dinners. Vegetarian, children’s and limited special dietary meals are available when you make your booking. You may also choose to complement your meal with our selection of wines and beverages which are also included in your fare.

Outback Explorer Lounge

The Outback Explorer Lounges are the social hub of the train, the perfect setting to get to know fellow travellers, enjoy a snack, and catch glimpses of the passing landscape through wide picture windows.

Platinum Club

The Platinum Club Lounge is hosted by a Platinum Host, serving drinks, cocktails and barista coffee. Request an afternoon refreshment from the all-inclusive beverage list, or simply choose from the self-serve bar. THE ROUTE 4 DAY WESTBOUND

Day 1 – Sydney Your transcontinental adventure begins in Sydney where you board the Indian Pacific. Prepare for a journey of contrasts, from lush vineyards to vast goldmines, majestic mountains to the barren expanse of the Nullarbor, from cities of four million to ghost towns of four. As the train winds through the breathtaking Blue Mountains, explore the comforts of life onboard, get acquainted with your cabin and fellow travellers. After settling in, savour your first meal – a regionally-inspired dinner paired with all-inclusive fine wines and beverages. After dinner, join fellow guests for a late-night drink or head back to your cabin for your first night on board.

Day 2 – Broken Hill, Barossa Valley and Adelaide Surrounds

You arrive in the ‘Silver City’ of Broken Hill as the day begins, where you embark on a morning of Off Train Excursions to discover the mining history and artistic culture of this unique town where the streets are wide and there’s a pub on every corner. Lunch is served on board as the Indian Pacific enters the southern tip of the spectacular and ancient Flinders Ranges. Arriving in the city of Adelaide in the afternoon, you have the choice of a tour of the city, a visit to the world-famous Barossa Valley or McLaren Vale wine regions (seasonal), or a trip to the beautiful Adelaide Hills featuring the culinary delights of Hahndorf.

Day 3 – Nullarbor Plains

You’ll awake to the seemingly endless expanse of the Nullarbor Plain. Breakfast is served as you travel along the longest stretch of straight railway track in the world. This evening, your sense of wonder will be ignited as you enjoy the tranquillity of dinner under the brilliant desert stars in the remote and beautiful Rawlinna (seasonal).

 

Day 4 – Arrive in Perth Breakfast is served as you glide through the mild skies and cool green vales of the Avon Valley on your way to Perth, arriving after an onboard lunch.

THE ROUTE 4 DAY EASTBOUND

Day 1 – Perth to Kalgoorlie Your journey from the Indian Ocean to the Pacific Ocean begins as you pull away from the platform in Perth mid-morning. Settle into your comfortable cabin and get to know the creature comforts of life onboard. Enjoy a modern Australian lunch as you glide through the picturesque rolling hills of the Avon Valley. After a relaxing afternoon on board, enjoy a three-course dinner prior to your late evening arrival in the wild west township of Kalgoorlie.

Day 2 – Nullarbor Plains Awake to the spectacular expanse of the Nullarbor Plain to watch the sunrise. Be captivated by the big blue skies and ancient stillness of the desert landscape, broken only by a mob of friendly kangaroos. Waiting ahead is the charm of the once-thriving Nullarbor railway community – now ghost town – of Cook. Sit back and relax as the train continues its trek across the longest single stretch of railway in the world. Another mouth-watering dinner is followed by relaxed conversation in the lounge before a restful night’s sleep.

Day 3 – Adelaide and Broken Hill On arrival in elegant Adelaide, you have the choice of a walking tour (seasonal), a behind-the-scenes tour of the world famous Adelaide Oval, or a coach tour of the city sights. This evening you’ll enjoy a stop at Broken Hill, Australia’s silver capital and home to a unique artistic community.

Day 4 – Blue Mountain and Sydney Wake in the picturesque Blue Mountains. See the majestic Three Sisters at Echo Point and the views at Jamison Valley before completing your journey on our chartered NSW rail service (fully hosted by our staff) into Sydney Central Station. Alternatively, stay onboard the Indian Pacific to travel directly to Sydney.

All train travel, trip/holiday package, accommodation, day tour or overnight tour prices are quoted in Australian dollars inclusive of GST. Fares, packages and prices in this brochure are subject to change without notice prior to booking. If a guest has booked a rail journey that includes flights, hotel accommodation, car hire or touring, these components will not be booked until a booking deposit is received.

DEPOSITS

  • For Gold Everyday and Everyday Saver fares the booking deposit will be $500.00 per person rail journey.
  • For Advance Purchase rail only fares payment in full is required.
  • For Advance Purchase Holiday Package fares the booking deposit will be $1000.00 per person per rail journey.
  • For Platinum Everyday fares the booking deposit will be $1000.00 per person per rail journey.
  • All amounts payable per fare type must be received by us within 14 days of the booking being made.
  • Special Offer Fares are instant purchase fares and immediate payment at the time of booking is required. These special offers may also have different terms and conditions relating to when payment is due, cancellation of bookings and whether or not amendments can be made to the booking.

PAYMENT DUE

The full balance of payment will be due at 45 days prior to the date of travel. (Unless booking conditions state otherwise, such as special offers, third party supplier conditions.) For bookings made at 45 days or less prior to travel, full payment is required at the time of booking. If payment is not received, the booking will be cancelled.

For Advance Purchase Holiday Packages full payment is required six months prior to the travel date.

SINGLE SUPPLEMENT

  • A single supplement will be applied when a guest occupies a twin or double cabin on their own. Single Supplement on Holiday Packages will be applied and advised at the time of booking.
  • Advance Purchase amendments cannot be made less than fourteen(14) days prior to travel date and can only be made to travel dates ifthe change is greater than six (6) months prior to the new proposed departure date, subject to Advance Purchase fare type availability.
  • Special Offer Fares amendments of a confirmed booking are not permitted.
  • A request to reduce the number of guests travelling or the componentsof the holiday/rail package will incur a cancellation fee.
  • A request to amend the booking to increase the number of guests travellingor the number of components of the holiday/rail package will not incur an amendment fee but will require the payment of the additional fare/s.
  • Amendment of a confirmed Holiday Package booking (including rail and accommodation/touring together) will result in you incurring an amendment fee of $50 per person per travel journey,in addition to any costs charged by operators, and cannot be made less than fourteen (14) days prior to the date of travel.
  • An amendment to a confirmed booking cannot extend the date oftravel beyond twelve (12) months from the original travel date.
